What to look for in Fall 2012

1. 2012 Themes - Ornate to retro to military

Ornate: Rich fabrics like velvet, jacquard, damask, and lots of embellishments seem to be dominating the fashion scene in a faraway land/old world elegance to create something truly magical.

Retro: aka. granny chic styles. Lots of oversized sweaters, crocheted shawls, tweed, layers, quilted fabrics, fair isle sweaters, and knits of American Heritage Brand represent the much more fun practical side to fall/winter bundling.

Military: This theme of style takes on a modern turn in pant suits, navy britches, the ever classic military jacket, thigh high boots, and leather

Within the basic themes of ornate, retro, and military, are several cuts, fabrics, and styles that are coming up across the board in more than one of the themes of 2012. I have highlighted four main ones below:

2. Pant Suits

3. Head to Toe
Patters, White, Black, and Wine Colours were the biggest participants in this fenced in dressing.

4. High Slits

5. Collars and Embellishments

Fall 2012: Patone Colour Report

The use of darks, brights, and neutrals, are to allude to the theme of 'fantasy and illusion that are inspiring designers this fall season.'

The goal is to 'manipulate reality to transport consumers to an enchanting place filled with love potions, witches, sunset, warlocks, etc, to place them in a stress free environment.

French Roast, Titanium, and Rose Smoke are the three neutrals of this years palette, While Bright Chartreuse, is the transition colour from summer to fall. And of course, Tangerine is still the colour of 2012!
